Sizzling Styles: Gabby travels to High Point Market

Posted on

Gabby traveled to High Point, NC for our third show at the International Furniture Market October 22-27. Over the past few years Gabby has become a more recognizable brand, and the changes we’ve made in our products and showroom display have not gone unnoticed.

This market, we debuted our new Gabby Tailored custom upholstery collection that featured a variety of colorful linens. Gabby also introduced several new transitional accent pieces, mixing materials such as rattan, stone, recycled wood, and painted fabrics. We also expanded our accessory collection with several antique reproductions and concrete pieces.

Not only did we expand and add to our look, we also added to our charitable endeavors by donating items to the Smith Mountain Lake Discovery Shop. The shop, part of the American Cancer Society, helps support the fight against cancer through the sale of home furnishings donated by exhibitors at High Point Market.

The positive reception from visitors to our showroom was encouraging, and being able to help others was even more rewarding.

Getting Glamorous

Rita Hayworth

Here at Gabby, we are getting inspired by Hollywood icons from the 40s and 50s.

One of the actresses whose charisma, beauty, and style that inspires us is Rita Hayworth. Many know her from her break out role in, Cover Girl, where she danced along side Gene Kelly, and from her sensational appearance as the lead in the 1946 film, Gilda.

Hayworth’s talents as a dancer and singer, combined with her Spanish and Irish heritage solidified her as a Hollywood glamour star in the 40s. Her presence on and off screen is still an inspiration today.

See Gabby’s take on Old Hollywood Glamour October 21-27 in High Point Interhall 207.

The Art of Baking

Posted on
Image from Tongue in Cheek Blog.

The Inspiration behind the Whitfield Wall Table

The French are known for their cuisine and the loving effort that goes into every dish served. A baker’s day starts early in the morning before the rest of the city awakens, and he works for hours to create beautiful pastries and breads. The breads and pastries cool on his baking rack as they await customers.

Gabby takes the functionality from the baker’s rack and designs a multifunctional table. Through our attention to detail, such as the fabric covered shelves and iron finials on the top- The Whitfield Wall Table stands as a nod to the baker and his glazes.

Create your own French baked goods using this recipe from Coco+Kelley

Amaretto-baked French Toast
3 eggs
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons amaretto
1 loaf brioche bread, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 tablespoon butter (for greasing your baking dish)
1/2 cup pecans
maple syrup for serving

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla & amaretto. Add brioche cubes and let mixture soak for 5 minutes. Spoon into a 9” x 12” well greased baking dish; sprinkle with pecans. Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden. Pour maple syrup over & serve.

Furnishings and Philanthropy

Posted on

This summer, Gabby is upholding our mission to give back to communities through the charitable efforts of Gabby dealers and our dedicated team of sales representatives across the country.

On August 11, Gabby gave back by donating a Nancy Cabinet and Jane Mirror to support Luxe Home Interiors’ raffle at their event, Extraordinary Tablescapes in Wilmington, NC. The event was for the benefit of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity. To view photos of the event, see the album from Focus On The Coast Magazine.

Along with the raffle to win home decor, Extraordinary Tablescapes featured table designs created by Luxe’s interior designers. Summer Classics donated the Croquet Aluminum Dining Table for the outdoor dining display.

“The owners of Luxe are great people. They are very involved in the Wilmington community. This is a great way to give back to Luxe and Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity,” Carmen Squadrito, sales rep for the area said.

Without the efforts of Gabby’s dealers and the strong connections created by Gabby’s sales representatives, we would not be able to achieve our mission of giving back.

Next month, Gabby is donating items to help our dealer, Lampada’s in Tuscaloosa, AL. in their efforts to assists a family in Tuscaloosa County effected by the April 27 storms.

Eco-Friendly Sensibilities

Posted on

At Gabby, we’re not a typical home decor company, and we’re not centered around what everyone else is doing. That’s why our approach to being eco-friendly isn’t the same as other companies.

Here are a few of the products from our new line that are created using recycled materials.

Eva Side Table

The Eva Side Table’s cubed shape is a great complement to the round Cyrano Coffee Table. This functional piece has a removable top for storage and features small inlaid recycled elm wood planks. Simple form, but full of character.

Cyrano Coffee Table

The circular Cyrano coffee table is inlaid with triangular offset pieces of recycled elm wood. Simple in form but bold in design. The table is slightly elevated off the floor for added mobility and finished with a water based sealer.

For every order Gabby receives, we make a donation to plant a tree.

Simone Chair

Avignon Chair

How many times do you sit down with a home decor magazine and think, “If only my house could look like that?” Well, often it’s so discouraging to think that your house couldn’t ever be “magazine ready” or feel like a French chateau. The truth is, you probably don’t live in a chateau nestled in the French country side. That’s okay, because with some inspiration, your home decor can evoke the same tranquility and beauty of magazine photos, still be a reflection of your personality, and be beautiful and liveable unlike the photos in magazines.

Recently, Gabby’s Simone and Avignon Chairs were in Slice magazine’s feature, “Restful Retreat.” The perfectly assembled feature demonstrates the beauty of the chairs, and that the concept of creating an oasis in your home is not impossible.

The Simone Chair; with its detailed wood carvings, curved legs, curved back, and linen material, is the epitome of French style and femininity. One glance at the sophisticated chair, and your room is transformed into an elegant French home. It steals the show, and would be paired beautifully with a pleated, fabric covered vanity. It would accompany any dining table, bistro set, or add femininity to a room that needed a softer touch.

The Avignon Chair, is more of a complementary piece. It goes great with a group of chairs without stealing the show. It can hold its own when alone in a room, because its tufting and fabric make it very inviting and comfortable. It would look great paired with the Simon Chest as a writing area. The chair brings warmth to any room, and is a very versatile decor piece.
